About the Austin Forest School
Austin Forest School is founded by Adrian Abascal and Rubria Abascal. Once their daycare, Green Monkey, grew and children aged they wanted a program to accommodate the same values and paradigm for the now Kindergarten aged children. Rubria has been working in the field of education since graduating from Texas Tech University in 2009 and made the transition to early childhood education when she opened Green Monkey Daycare in 2017. Adrian is a licensed Acupuncturist under the Texas Medical Board and author of the "Rapid Recovery Resource."
Forest School is a private school for the ages between daycare and elementary. This is the golden age that children are itching to get out and play, and do not have the cognitive development yet for the rigors of academic study. When children develop adequate autonomy and self-trust, with consistency their brain can handle academic pursuits more efficiently.
Our program is fully inspired from current best practices in parenting and early childhood development fields to prepare kids to succeed. It also serves as a collaborative parenting resource to give parents tools to maintain consistency at home which will help children grow into empowered and autonomous humans.
Pioneers in early childhood education Magda Gerber and pediatrician Dr. Emmi Pikler launched a movement of research over the last 50 years in child-rearing methods based on respecting children. This is a cornerstone to how we talk to and teach the children. By giving them the same respect that any adult deserves.
